Homelessness and poverty(corrected text)
I joined an open discussion about homelessness with AJ the other day.
Here are some of his questions and my answers during the discussion.
Q. Are there any homeless people in your city?
A. Yes. I see some homeless people in the park or on the downtown streets. I can recognize some of the people.
Q. What do you think causes people to become homeless?
A. I imagine people become homeless when they have no jobs or develop mental illnesses; furthermore they might not have any family support.
Q. What do you think of the idea of making your life more simple?
A. It becomes tougher to distinguish between necessity and luxury because the market is relentless and our lifestyles keep changing. On the other hand, it is important to lower our needs in order to be healthier, to save money, and to be more environmentally friendly.
I am not a big fan of second hand items, especially furniture. When my husband bought a used lamp, I didn't worry about where it came from after a short time, nevertheless.
There were two other members in the discussion. It was interesting to listen to their thoughts as well. I had such a good time :D

Hi Yukiko, did you enjoy the discussion with AJ? Because I always listen to his podcast, I wanted to join this discussion which seemed to be very interesting.
I just wonder if there are any homeless people in the very cold area, such as like the northern part of Japan or Canada. I don`t think they would survive in the freezing cold winter.
I enjoyed this discussion very much! He is another great tutor :D
I listen to his podcast as well. It is very inspiring ,isn't it?
I saw a shelter for homeless people in Ottawa, Canada. Actually,I was asked what time it was by a homeless man there! I was a little scared. Then he was going back to the shelter quickly because they had a curfew. I wonder if we have a shelter here in Japan...
Hi Yukiko,
Thank you for your comment on my blog. I'm glad to see that you added me to your neighbors list.
I also added you to my list. Thank you.
In The Linguist, there are a lot of members who have already gotten very good skills of English.
I have gradually feel embarrassed about my bad English...
Of course I know I have to study hard. I'm going to keep on trying.
I hope that I'll see you in a discussion.
Thank you for leaving a comment and adding to your neighborhood as well :D
Yes, there are tons of members who have a good command of English at The Linguist. You are one of them, too! I will try not to be too overwhelmed by those good English learners...
I often join the discussion late at night. I am a night owl. Hope to talk to you in a discussion :)
Hi, Yukiko, I am one of the participants in that discussion, the female one. Seeing your nice summary of discussion's Q & As from the discussion, I just wanted to leave a comment that it was nice talking to you.
On that discussion, I felt I said something irrelevant to one of the questions in the discussion. But, at least, it is a relief to see that you found the thoughts interesting, because I really felt stupid for my remarks! The questions were tough for me. Again it is nice summary you have done and it is also helpful for me to review the discussion. Thank you.
Thank you for leaving a comment! It was nice talking to you, too:)
That was a great discussion ,wasn't it? AJ is such a great tutor :D
On top of that, you are a very pleasant, fluent speaker. It was very interesting to listen to a life in Singapol. All you said was fine to me. It was me that saying something doesn't have to do with the question. I hope I didn't annoy you guys...I was impressed with Hiroshi's wide range of vocabulary, too.
I hope to talk to you again in some other discussion. Take care!
